Image: Google By Stan Schroeder 2016-07-26 09:57:00 UTC Google has made several changes to its Maps app on iOS, Android and in the browser, including a new, cleaner look, a slightly different color scheme and a new feature that highlights the most interesting spots around you. Called “areas of interest,” these spots will be painted a pale orange, and will appear automatically as you browse the map. SEE ALSO: Google Maps now lets you add multiple stops to your trip In a blog post announcing the feature Monday, Google explained that these areas are chosen with algorithmic processes the app will automatically figure out the highest density of restaurants, bars and shops. In certain high-density areas, such as the New York City, Google says it will use a “human touch” to show the most active areas. Check out how the feature works in the video, below. As for the new Maps visuals, the changes are subtle, as seen in the comparison below. Google says it has removed unnecessary elements from the map, one example being road outlines. The typography of street names and various points of interest on the map has also been improved. However, it appears fewer street names are being shown in the new Maps, which might not be an improvement for everyone. The old Maps are on the left, the new Maps are on the right. It should also help you identify important points of interest, such as hospitals and schools, more easily. Check out the new color scheme below. The new Maps’ color scheme should make it easier to notice places like hospitals and schools. Image: Google

Take advantage of goggle Business View. Obviously, if there’s an area on the screen that’s asking for information, you should fill it out completely. It’s great for gaining exposure and building a personal brand, especially if you’re in an industry that makes you the face of your business. It’s the first time we’ve had a single, forward-facing brand for business owners in several years, and goggle has worked hard to clear up the massive confusion felt in the past. Price: Free. There is no priority submit for goggle. This might seem onerous or daunting, but once you get into the habit it becomes second nature and shouldn’t take more than about half an hour a day. Several experts have provided excellent coverage already thanks, Danny Sullivan and Mike Blumenthal … but that’s not what I’m here for today. Do you follow the goggle Webmaster Guidelines? Once you have identified your keywords, ensure that they appear in the body of your pages, as well as in the metadata of your page, which is the unseen data that gives the spiders key information about your page.

| Topic: Mobility No matter what mobile operating system I am using, Google Maps is my default GPS navigation solution. Today Google released updates for desktop, Android, and iOS that are designed to improve the visual experience. After updating Google Maps on the Huawei P9, I immediately saw the improvements with the orange shading of “areas of interest” throughout downtown Seattle. Google uses these new shaded areas to show users where there are a number of activities and events, perfect as visitors explore Seattle, and other areas around the world, this summer. (Image: Google) Google uses algorithms to determine these areas of interest so even in a busy city like New York the entire city isn’t highlighted at once. Google’s blog post states it is using a human touch to make sure it is showing the most active areas, which means there must be some actual Google employees verifying activities. A color wheel was posted on the Google blog showing users maps features that are manmade, those with vegetation, those with water, and search results in red tints. Overall, I think Google Maps does look a bit cleaner with this update.
